Utamacon Group has recently marked a significant milestone in its growth with the official establishment of its presence in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia on 1 April 2026 under the name UTAMACON (Sabah) Sdn Bhd.

The move positions Utamacon Group to capitalise on Sabah’s expanding construction and infrastructure landscape, where growing demand for professional project management and contract advisory services presents a compelling opportunity for firms with proven regional expertise.

The new office will extend Utamacon Group’s expertise in Project Management and Construction Contract Advisory to clients across Sabah and East Malaysia — bringing our commitment to excellence closer to the communities and industries we serve. In time, the office will also provide Quantity Surveying services in Sabah.

Some of the group members have recently been appointed as office bearers of the Institute of Surveyors PUJA Brunei (ISPB) for a two-year term (2026-2028), following the recent council meeting.

The recognition and appointments are as follows:

Sr Pg Muhd. Adib has been appointed as Vice President (Quantity Surveying), while Sr Mohamed Humdhan will serve as General Member (Membership and Discipline). Sr Harun has been appointed as General Member (Professional Practice and CPD), and Nadia will serve as General Member representing the KB Chapter.

Utamacon Group’s Managing Director / General Manager, Sr. Mohammad Shafie Hj Mohd Yusof, has been elected as the Secretary General of One Solution Asia (OSA) during the recent OSA Annual Conference held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from 25 to 26 September 2025. At the same conference, Mr. Alan Hearn of the Philippines was re-elected as Chairman, and Mr. Ang YK of Thailand was elected as Vice Chairman, reflecting the diverse regional leadership within OSA.

This prestigious appointment reflects the confidence and recognition of OSA’s regional partners in Sr. Shafie’s leadership and his contributions in OSA. In his new role, he will collaborate with fellow OSA leaders to strengthen regional partnerships, elevate professional standards and shape the future of the construction consultancy sector across Asia.

Utamacon participated in the Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS) Congress 2025, held from 22 to 26 August 2025 at the Raffles Hotel in Jakarta. The congress brought together professionals from across the region to share knowledge and learn about the latest developments in quantity surveying and the construction industry.

Representing Utamacon was Sr. John Wong, together with Nadia Amer Hamzah, who was selected to represent the PUJA Young Quantity Surveyors (YQS). Their participation shows Utamacon’s support for professional growth and its commitment to being active at international events.

With the theme “Harnessing AI and Digital Technology for Smart Construction Towards Net Zero, Decarbonizing and Innovative Building Materials,” the congress focused on three important areas for the future of the industry: digitalization, sustainability, and material innovation.

Utamacon started the New Year 2025 with its annual Doa Selamat, held at the BSB office on Thursday, 2 January 2025, and the KB office on Friday, 3 January 2025. The gatherings provided an opportunity for staff to reflect, give thanks, and seek blessings from ALLAH S.W.T. as the company began a new chapter.

Utamacon (B) Sdn Bhd proudly took part in the AQSA Research and Education Conference 2024, held at the Imperial Hotel, Kuching, Sarawak, from 19 to 20 November 2024. The conference revolved around the theme “Futurising Built Environment – Transformative Effects of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technology,” exploring groundbreaking advancements in the field.
